BMW of North America has just issued announcement for a recall. The vehicles recalled include 1,160 model year 2014 X1 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i and X1 xDrive35i.
The recall bulletin states that the vehicles may have battery positive (B+) cables that can develop high resistance in the connections to the fuse box. The possibility of having high resistance is dangerous because it can cause the loss of the cable’s electrical connection. When that happens, the engine can stop and refuse to restart. This increases the risk of a crash.
As normal procedure, BMW will be notifying the affected owners of the vehicles recalled. Dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the B+ cable connector with a proper one. The replacement will be silver coated and will serve as a better security to the fuse box. Replacements will be done free of charge.
The recall is slated to start by next month, April 3, 2017.
