Reverse Camera with LCD Display for E90 LCI

Hi bros

Wanted to share what I did to retrofit a reverse camera to my E90 LCI -318i
Wanted to put a reverse camera (since the 318i doesnt come with one) but wanted to have a more intergrated look. So i went down to the shop where I install all my accessories and asked for his opinion.

Heres the end result

Custom crafted holder to fit into the ashtray in front of the gear knob

Up close shot- wanted to have the screen more to the right so the view is not blocked by the gear knob. Thought it looked funny if it is just to one side. So had another socket put on the left. Really usefull since for 318i the socket is in the center console.... :|

Shot of the reverse camera. The camera just replaces one of the license plates lights. nice clean look

Overall, I am very happy with the workmanship and price of the job. Happy now nice Christmas present for myself

PS: despite my best efforts, i couldnt fine a dead pedal to match my brake/accel pedals. So while i was waiting for the reverse camera to be done..asked them to wrap my stock dead pedal in 3M CF sticker also..I think it looks not too bad.

think i will go autobaccs to get a lighter to fit into the socket

Interesting. I am more concern about night use. There are places that are too dark at night and I worry reversing into a drain. Can you check it out? Maybe in some dimly lit places. How much did u pay and where?

I tried it and night and its still ok i feel. Although i have not driven to a place which is totally dark though...

Since quite a few pple have asked me already.. I'll post the details here (since i am a lazyass to keep pming )

I did it at Young Auto Gadget

Installation was ard 3hours.

Yes you can. I check. From one of this Forum vendors. Interface card and labour about $1,300. Excluding camera. Based on E60

I found a supplier in HK who has something useful for most of us. If there is enough response, then we can do bulk purchase. They have a MOQ (500 units) which we will not be able to meet. The only savings we can get is probably sharing the shipping cost.

Setting the functions:

8 Date/Time: Set correct recording Date and time.

10 Light Frequency: set [50/60Hz].

11 Restore Default:. Select[ Yes]or [No].

12 Version:. Show the software version Number.

Preview on the HD TV
Connect the HDMI link of DVR with the HD TV, then turn on the DVR. And enter into the preview mode automatically,and the operating steps are same as preview on the screen.

Note: 1) Please insert the SD/ MMC card before recording.

2) Please adjust the time display before recording. If not set a time, the DVR can not record.

3) This DVR records in cycle if you choose 2/5/15 minutes as storage time.When the storage medium is full, it will record from the beginning again and erase over the previously recorded material automatically.It will have 3 seconds paus time,and namely the contents in the 3 seconds will not recorded. If select Off,when the storage medium is full,it shows Card Full and stop recording.

4) Because the DVR is DC5V input,please use the attached car charger. It have adaptor 12V/24V transfers to 5V already.

5) Whenyou cannot stop recording by pressing REC button, please check if you have selected the Montion Detect is ON. If yes,please select OFF.
