Automobile Magazine, a US publication, releases a new rumor about the revival of the M1, BMW’s iconic super car first released in 1978. Rumors of this revival has been circulating for a few years but BMW has consistently denied the profitability of creating such as vehicle. Automobile Magazine reports of a BMW M division manager stating: “Now that we won our first DTM race, the leadership team is much more open to persuasion. They understand that the brand would benefit from a leading-edge sports car.” However, a BMW insider also says that the new supercar is not built atop the upcoming i8 hybrid sportscar, but rather a new mid-engine two-seater, also dubbed “the greenest sports cars.†If the M1 revival received the greenlight, a concept car could appear in 2014 and produced two years after.
