BMW announced their on-demand car sharing program last October. The purpose of this program is to satisfy the demands of consumers based in their individual tastes and preferences when it comes to cars. A wide range of vehicles will be offered for renting. This includes the four-cylinder vehicles, the M6, and even the M3. Customers can book the vehicle of their choice, and even select a color, in person, on the Internet or via telephone. The rates vary depending on the model and time of day.
According to Automotive News’ report, BMW’s one-year pilot car-sharing program will start in Munich. BMW saw the need for a car-sharing program because of the changing perspective of the market when it comes to owning a car; given the urban traffic and congestion in the current times. Other automakers such as Daimler will also launch a similar program. This will be useful to young and old, and for all income levels.
Automotive News reports that a 1 Series costs 16 euros ($21.20) an hour, while the higher-end 5 Series is 23 euros ($30.49) per hour. The insurance, cleaning and servicing are all included in the fee. As of now, BMW is planning to make this program available across Europe. Hopefully, it will be available in other countries too.
