BMW X1 to make North American debut at 2011 Montreal Auto Show

Auto123 reports that the 2011 Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS) will be the venue for the North American debut of the small BMW X1 Sports Activity Vehicle. No information has yet been revealed about the engine. In Europe though, the X1 is offered with a rear-wheel drive, an xDrive configuration, and a number of petrol and diesel engines.

The launch of the new BMW X1 will open a new premium small SUV segment for BMW. Audi and will attempt to compete in this segment with their Q3 due in 2011 and Saab with their 9-4x. Mercedes-Benz and Infiniti are also expected to launch similar models for this segment.
