BMW Manufacturing in India? Maybe.

http://www.southasiamonitor.org/img/india-flag.gifBMW is already investing and constructing a assembly facility near Chennai, India and has plans to establish an international procurement center. Close to over 20 million euros have been invested and will be the growth point of the BMW 3 and 5 series.

Choices already include Chennai, Pune or Delhi, however Delhi will be a tough choice considering that it is a landlocked city. Chennai is touted to be one of the selected areas as it is near a port, has a well established supply and infrastructure.

What does this mean? More savings for BMW and a high possibility the majority of BMWs in Singapore will be made in India. BMW has a similiar plant in Beijing, China, but is specifically for the local market. Details to be finalized by end week.
