First Spy Photo – BMW i3 Megacity Vehicle

The BMW i3 Megacity Vehicle joins the i8 prototype for some winter testing in Sweden. The Megacity will be launching even before the i8, making it the first product to be produced under BMW’s new sustainable i sub-brand. The Megacity will be offered in a two-door, four-seat configuration. It measures around 157 inches. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery with 35 kWh of capacity placed below the vehicle’s floor. Rear-wheels approach remains in BMW’s philosophy and the power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted 150-hp electric motor. Driving range is expected to top at 100 miles and top speed at 95 mph.

Two additional models will be introduced in the near future. The two-door, two-seater Intracity Vehicle will launch in 2015 and the four-door, five-seater Urban Commuter Vehicle will launch in 2017. A concept version of the Megacity is expected to debut this fall at Frankfurt Motor Show.
