The rumors have now been confirmed: we will be seeing an actual BMW X4 most likely in 2014. BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer confirmed this in an interview with German magazine Auto Motor und Sport. He also said that it will be built under the internal codename F26.

The BMW X4 will use the platform of the X3 and will be positioned below the X5 SAV. It will measure 4.65 meters long (183 inches), same length as the F25 X3. There are some sources who also say that the design of the X4 will be very similar to the X3, but there will be differences in the front and the rear. The X4 will also inherit the engine lineup from the X3, including both four and six-cylinder petrol and gasoline engines.
