Autobild.de reports that BMW is planning to introduce the BMW i5, a fully electric mid-size people mover that will take a more cross-over shape of the Prius, to create a product that is part sedan, part van and part SUV.
The BMW i5 would be likely to be powered by a rear-wheel-drive platform utilizing a 170HP electric motor mated to the range extending gas motor delivering an additional 90HP.
Though no official confirmations at the moment, this rumor seems likely because of how dedicated BMW is now in terms of building great electric cars for the future mobility. The BMW i brand is now working on the BMW i8 and BMW i3 as the first two models. However, these two vehicles are pretty small and would not cater to most of market share or those who need more space for more members of the family. If an i5 will be created, this will definitely be more practical for daily use.
Rumor has it that the BMW i5 might be introduced in 2015.
