Interview with BMW Chairman, Helmut Panke

BMW is closing the gap with Mercedes for the title of the biggest maker of luxury cars. Worldwide sales of the BMW brand rose 10 per cent to 1.02 million vehicles in 2004, while Mercedes-Benz brand sales fell 3.1 per cent to 1.06 million units.

For the first time ever, BMW outsold Mercedes when including the two car makers’ other brands.
