BMW M3 Frozen Gray Owners need to sign paint care agreement

The BMW M3 Frozen Gray limited edition sold last month in the USA to only 30 lucky customers. Priced at $77,600, each buyer will have a one-day enrollment at the BMW Performance Driving School in Spartanburg, South Carolina as a bonus.

Within less than 15 minutes, the production slots have already been sold out. But it looks like the Frozen Gray paint comes with more responsibility.

Because of the sensitivity of the paint used, BMW will provide the customers a fine print of care details for the frozen matte painted car. The warranty will not cover paint damages caused by negligence, lack of maintenance, environmental damage or improper repairs. BMW is requiring the 30 buyers to sign an agreement that they understand completely the extra care that the frozen paint requires before it is delivered.

These are a few care tips from BMW about the BMW M3 Frozen Gray vehicle:

• Never polish or wax the frozen gray paint as it could lead to a glossy surface.
• If washing your frozen gray M3 in a automatic car wash (you should be killed) choose a car wash that does not apply vehicle wax. Rinse the M3 with high pressure water to remove dirt before sending it through the automatic car wash to avoid scratches from sand, dust and other micro-particles.
• Remove bugs, bird poo, tree sap, tar, fuel spills or oil immediately using a soft sponge.
• Avoid strong rubbing while cleaning the frozen paint. BMW sells suitable products for maintaining the frozen paint at your local dealer.
• Repairs to the paint (scratches, dents, etching) must be completed by a BMW trained body shop. Most auto body shop will not be capable of repairing the frozen gray paint.
