BMW and Boeing forges partnership for carbon fiber research

 

BMW and Boeing just announced their partnership to research carbon fiber manufacturing and recycling.

This joint research will be held in Washington, US,A in the BMW carbon fiber manufacturing plant. Boeing also has the assembly facility for the 787 Dreamliner there.

The collaboration will result to mutual benefit between the companies. BMW plans on using carbon fiber for its upcoming i3 and i8 models that will be assembled in Leipzig, Germany. This material is also very important for Boeing since the 787 Dreamliner is made up of 50 percent carbon fiber material.

Both parties will share information with one another to further enhance this lightweight and very strong material.
