BMW-Syndikat.de captured a photo of what seems to be a prototype of the BMW M235i. BMW is expected to launch the 2 Series fleet in 2014 which will be built on the F2x platform where the new 1 Series Coupe will be moving up in class. Overall, the 2 Series vehicles will still look like a hatchback but the design language is aggressive and more sporty in character. Rear-wheel drive architecture will be used here and xDrive system pairing is also possible. With the 2 Series also come the the M treatment that they will get. The M2 will be a part of the M Performance Automobiles program and will most likely get the M235i branding and will sit below the M2 super-sporty and compact M. Though the vehicle in this photograph still has heavy camouflage, the black double exhaust pipes as seen on the M135i, blue calipers specific to M Performance brakes and a small trunk spoiler give clues to its identity. Interior spy shots also reveal a gear selector for the eight-speed automatic transmission and a sportier than usual steering wheel.
