Mr. Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO of BMW of North America, confirmed last year that there will be an inline 6 cylinder engine for the upcoming M3/M4, but there were doubts that this plan will push through. This week, he again reconfirms at the launch of the new X5 and 4 Series, that there will be an inline engine for the M4 (which makes it true for the M3 as well). He says that as a person who worked in the BMW M division before, he is really happy that “it is going to be a car that has the cylinders in one line.” Take it from the words of the previous president of BMW M GmbH and who worked on the M4 as his last project.
