BMW X4 M not likely to be launched

CarAdvice interviewed BMW product communications manager, Bernhard Ederer, and gets information that BMW X4 M is not likely to come to life. Rumors of the BMW X4 M started in 2012.

“The question is what customers are we talking to?” pondered Ederer. “And are we talking to someone that is [currently] willing and able to afford [an X6M]?”, says Ederer.

Furthermore, the BMW spokesperson says the success of the X6 had led to the creation of the smaller X4, but the same case might not apply for the M variant. “It is a little bit selfish, as it is not always about what a number of customers would like but what for us is the best business opportunity.”

The first medium compact Sports Activity Coupe will be launched in the BMW X-family in 2014. It will use the same platform as the BMW X3 with a body length of 183 inches (4,648 mm), a width of 75.4 inches (1,915 mm) and a height of 63.9 inches (1,622 mm). BMW X4 features a stretched and shallow band of glass that creates a persuasively dynamic link between the greenhouse and vehicle body. The X4 sports a wide track and low center of gravity implying a more dynamic ride. The 2014 BMW X4 will come with a wide range of both petrol and diesel engines, so expect anything from a four-cylinder turbo to the higher offering, 3.0 liter six-cylinder TwinPower turbo and 300 horsepower.
