BMW 320d and BMW 520d debut in Singapore

BMW enhances diesel product portfolio in Singapore.

Singapore. BMW Asia has introduced the BMW 320d Sport, BMW 520d and 520d Luxury in Singapore for the first time. Their arrival serve to complement the recent launch of the BMW X5 xDrive30d, and further expands the BMW Advanced Diesel product portfolio to provide customers with more choices to suit their needs.

BMW Advanced Diesel engines featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology are capable of generating high levels of torque that has won over even performance-minded drivers. The high efficiency of BMW Advanced Diesel engines also ensures low fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Produced using lightweight aluminium construction methods, BMW Advanced Diesel engines boast a plethora of technological innovations like the latest generation common rail injection, for example. A key feature is the high injection pressure of up to 2,000 bars which is generated regardless of the engine speed or amount of fuel being injected, thereby guaranteeing optimum and efficient carburetion and combustion. In combination with the standard particle filter, BMW diesel models offered in Singapore already comply with the EU 5 emissions standard.

With the latest generation common rail injection, the amount of fuel required is injected into the combustion chamber more precisely and accurately than ever before. Fuel consumption and emissions are considerably reduced, while engine performance, refinement and efficiency are significantly increased.

“Thanks to Efficient Dynamics, excellent performance and outstanding efficiency are no longer a contradiction, as shown by BMW Advanced Diesel technology. Besides being highly fuel efficient and low in CO2 emissions, the tremendous torque that it generates offers sheer driving pleasure like no other,” said Mr Sethipong Anutarasoti, Corporate Affairs Director of BMW Group Asia.

“BMW Advanced Diesel cars are built for long distance running and are the perfect choice for professionals and businessmen who may have numerous meetings on a daily basis and are constantly on the move. For instance, the BMW 520d Luxury has an outstanding average fuel consumption of more than 20km/litre (per average EU test cycle) and an impressive range of over 1,500km. Through its excellent fuel efficiency, there is no longer a need to refuel so often thereby saving customers precious time.”

Advanced Diesel cars can further benefit customers with a lower total cost of car ownership with an initial Carbon Emissions-Based Vehicle Scheme (CEVS) rebate. The BMW 320d Sport (118g/km; per average EU test cycle) and BMW 520d and 520d Luxury (129g/km; per average EU test cycle) will qualify for up to $15,000 and $10,000 of CEVS rebates, respectively.

The arrival of the BMW 320d Sport, BMW 520d and 520d Luxury serve as a second-phase Advanced Diesel model roll-out since the launch of the top-of-the-line 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine with Tri-turbo charging, via the high-performance BMW X6 M50d and BMW X5 M50d in late 2012.

“With the introduction of the BMW 320d Sport, BMW 520d and 520d Luxury, as well as the earlier launched BMW X5 xDrive30d, we have enhanced our diesel product portfolio to cater to an even wider audience than before,” concluded Mr Anutarasoti.
