BMWBLOG reports that the upcoming 2015 BMW X5 M and X6 M will feature an updated V8 4.4 liter turbocharged engine that will produce more power than the current version. Exact output is unknown at the moment but it is rumored to be more than just a tuned up version of the S63Tu unit with the latest engine developments from BMW, roughly around 600 hp. This is a significant upgrade even over the Competition Package developed for the M5 and M6. The torque will also get a bump well above the 500 lb-ft limit.
The upcoming F85 BMW X5 M and F86 BMW X6 M will also move away from the automatic transmission found in the first generation and import the sharp and precise DCT box found in the M5 and M6. The top speed will likely be electronically limited to 174 mph (300 km/h).
