The new key fob for BMW 7 Series with Remote Control Parking

Together with the new 7 Series, BMW also introduces a newhigh-tech keyfob and it has a new trick up its sleeve. “The new BMW 7 Series is the world’s first series-produced car that owners will be able to maneuver in or out of forward-parking spaces or garages without anyone at the wheel,” said in the press release.

The optional Remote Control Parking feature allows drivers to access tight parking spaces with ease. The driver initiates the car’s progress forwards into or in reverse out of a space using the likewise newly developed BMW Display Key. While standing outside the car. The vehicle moves forward when entering the space, while the exit maneuver is performed in reverse. BMW warns that while parking is taking place, the driver must watch for any obstacles and bring the process to a stop if any issues arise. Remote Control Parking can only be activated when the vehicle is positioned centrally in front of the selected parking space. Also, the distance the vehicle is allowed to travel in driverless mode when entering and leaving the parking space is limited to 1.5 times the length of the vehicle.
