Alpina B5 S might be almost a decade old since its launch in 2007. But the bad beast still sends a shiver down the spine of many when it is combined with Supersprint exhaust.
The Legend
The B5 S was able to produce thunder-like sound – just how we like it, with this small attachment. At the time B5 was the fastest in its segment and ruled the roads. The car could reach 197 mph and even finish the standing kilometer in 22.1 seconds, half a second faster than the Aston Martin DBS. It was a real big deal at that time.
Small tweaks, Big gains
But with this small Supersprint tweak, the fans will only love it more. At first, it is hard to believe that the sound of this 4.4L supercharged V8 engine can be so smooth yet mean. But one has to see it to believe it!
The sound is definitely seductive and when you push the throttle and zoom through the road in this classy bimmer, you can’t help but appreciate the masterpiece that this Alpina is.
Alpina Then
At the time, there was no car with four doors faster than this Alpina. It was a legend back then and continues to impress us now. Almost a decade ago, the Alpina B5 S could produce more power than the E60 M5 which sported a powerful V10 engine. The Alpina used a supercharger to get the extra edge which struck the fancy of many at the time.
Alpina Now
Fast forward to today, we have the Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe which touches the 100 kmph mark faster than the M6 Gran Coupe. Alpina has definitely impressed people over the years, still the M6 has its own fan following.
