Meet the New BMW Family Member: the i8 Roadster

The CEO of BMW, Harald Krüger, confirmed the rumors about the i8 Roadster yesterday in a press conference in Munich.

The new i model will come to the market in 2018. By adding this model to their arsenal, BMW is expanding the i Series and offering a better choice to the customers.

Krüger said that there will be new additions to the i family: “In the second half of 2016, we will launch another i3 model, with 50 percent more battery capacity. This will be followed by a BMW i8 Roadster in 2018.”

The current i8 model’s power is 360 HP, and it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds. The top speed it achieves is 250 km/h. The i8 Roadster is expected to be around 10% more powerful and reach 420 HP.
