The rumormill churns once again and this time it talks about numerous upcoming BMW models. In a report by Automobile Magazine, they share a list of several BMW models that are apparently on the pipeline. See below:
*The BMW is X2 coming next year.
*Coming in late 2018 is the BMW X7.
*A super-luxurious edition of BMW X7 will be launched in 2019.
*Unfortunately, there will be no hatchback BMW 1 Series for the next generation. Instead, it will be replaced by the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in 2019.
*Sadly for Z enthusiasts, there will be no BMW Z4 Coupe variant coming. There will be a soft-top roadster model though.
*The BMW 9 Series has not been green-lighted yet. It will most likely be launched in 2020. This is a four-door coupe with twin-turbo 6 cylinder paired to two electric motors for 500hp combined. Only 8,000 units will be produced.
*There is a possibility to merge the BMW 3 Series GT and the next generation BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe.
*Currently being developed is Project iX, a BMW 3 Series electric hatchback.
*In 2018 or 2019, we will be seeing a next generation BMW 6 Series but it will no longer have the convertible version. This is also likely to happen to the Gran Coupe version if the 9 Series is produced. Thus, there will only be a
Coupe version.
*The remaining BMW 6 Series models will lose around 500 pounds using BMW’s CLAR platform. They will also have optional air suspension, rear-wheel steering, and will be powered by BMW’s quad-turbo inline 6 cylinder delivering 550 horsepower. This will be positioned to take on the 911.
Some of these details may be conflicting with some of the news heard in the past (just as the Z series) so for now, kindly take the rumormill with a grain of salt. Surely, great BMW models are coming our way in the next few years. Exciting times!
