Was Pontiac the first “The Ultimate Driving Machine”, not BMW?

Fascinating trivia for the day: BMW is not the first car to be called “The Ultimate Driving Machine”. Yes, you heard it right. The description most commonly attributed to BMW cars is not originally from BMW. The phrase came from Bob Lutz who worked for BMW in the early 70’s and then became the head of GM. Before that, he was working in a car brand names Pontiac. The only reason why he was able to bring the moniker with him to BMW is because Pontiac did not trade mark the phrase.
