BMW Art Car by Sandro Chia

24 years ago, Sandro Chia became the first artist from Italy to be asked to enhance the look of a BMW Art Car. Chia changed the look of a BMW E36 3 Series coupe, making it a combination of his own style and BMW design.

This exact model will be presented at the Quadriennale d’Arte di Roma. The event will be held at the Palazzo delle esposizioni on Via Nazionale and some other locations around rome. It will happen from October 13, 2016 to January 7, 2017.

Sergio Solero, the President and CEO of BMW Italia, said:

By installing the BMW Art Car by Sandro Chia as the 100th work in the exhibition, we pay tribute to the centenary of BMW Group. Thus, we managed to create a direct link to the 16th Quadriennale. A video installation will guide visitors to discover the design and creative process of the 13th Art Car, which will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2017.

The car Chia worked on wasn’t your usual 3 Series Coupe. He got a prototype for the Italian Gran Tourismo Championship. Sandro had something to say abot the car:

The automobile is a much coveted object within our society. It is the center of attraction. People look at it. This car reflects those looks.
