There’s No Name Conflict

If you remember, the previous generation couldn’t be named M1 due to the fact that that name was reserved for the 1978 model. The ‘baby-M’ has the full right to be called an M2.

It Uses an N55 Engine for M Models

Instead of opting for a 6-cylinder B58 modular engine, the manufacturers decided to use the N55 engine, derived from the previous S55 version. The reason behind that are the parts from the S55 used in the M3/M4 that fit perfectly into the M2’s N55.

Consider the Manual Gearbox

You can have the seven-speed automatic if you wish, but with a car like this it’s all about the driving pleasure, and the manual gearbox enhances it in a perfect way.

There Are No Four-Cylinder Engines for M Models

While a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine could provide some more power to the vehicle, the engineers are sticking to the straight-six, mostly because it provides more convenience.

No Limited Production

There are some rumors that BMW M2 could be produced at the rate of around 10,000 units per year, which doesn’t sound anywhere close to limited. However, a first year’s quantity (not exactly 10,000 units) is already sold out, so plan your strategy now if you want one of those babies!

It Was Tested at the Nurburgring Nordschleife

And its lap time is 7 minutes 58 seconds.

It Features Track Apps

If you want to get data about the speed, time, gear, throttle, and steering angle, there’s an app for that. You can also connect your smartphone and a GoPro and enable live-feed on the central screen of your car.

The Rear Wings are 40mm Wider on Each Side

There’s some extra metal going on on the wing and it looks awesome.

BMW M2 is Hard to Beat on the Track

Not only it has some great lap times, but it was able to deliver over 100 laps per day at Laguna Seca without changing brakes or tires. That’s better than most other cars did.

The Aftermarket Parts are Ready for You

It’s never been easier to customize your vehicle. You can choose among many carbon fiber aero parts, switchable louder exhaust system, adjustable suspension, and more are about to be produced soon.
