Auto Motor und Sport, a German automobile news site, has just released a report saying that the BMW M2 CSL has received the green light for production. Rumors have been circulating for months about a possible higher performance version of the BMW M2 Coupe. BMW has not made any official comments about this but if it does happen, the car will be a stripped-down, track-worthy model featuring lots of carbon fiber parts and thrilling power.
The BMW M2 is a great platform and it just makes sense to have a CSL version that enhances it. The current M2 is just a taste of how well BMW engineers can make cars and how far they can go in terms of aesthetics and performance, at a good price point.
If it does get the green light, it will be lighter and this will allow it to be a road monster. The BMW M2 CSL will have a wider, lower, and more aggressive stance with the help of aerodynamic parts added. It also makes sense for the sound-deadening material of the M2 to be removed. A few more tricks like a large rear wing, front splitter and adjustable suspension can also be possible for the M2 CSL.
Power-wise, the standard M2’s 365 horsepower is expected to increase to more than 400, if is it equipped with the S55 engine from the M4 Coupe.
