The new BMW M6 GT3 race car just bagged its first major win in an endurance race at the 24-hour Spa Francorchamps. Here is a video of the AC Schnitzer ACL2 racer on the same track:
If you’re interested to get your hands on this car, it is not for sale. AC Schnitzer says that they won’t be offering this kit in the future. It is actually just an experiment for the tuner. They just wanted to see how good the chassis of a BMW M2 is when pushed to the limit.
To achieve 570 horespower output, the engine is changed from an N55 unit to an S55 from a BMW M4. A new rear differential from Drexler with a lock between 25% and 95% was added to allow for extra quick cornering.
AC Schnitzer ACL2 6-pot fixed caliper brakes were added on the front with 400 x 38 mm carbon ceramic brake discs (drilled) and 4-pot brakes on the rear with 380 x 28 mm carbon ceramic discs (drilled).
The AC Schnitzer downpipe adds boost power and torque. The AC Schnitzer sports exhaust system with special catalytic converter (200 cpsi) combined with “Racing EVO Carbon†tailpipes in right/left combination gives off the nice sound.
To save weight, the ACL2 uses a lighter battery than the standard M2 and the intake is replaced with carbon fiber.
With an acceleration time of 3.9 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph) and a top speed of 330 km/h (206 mph), this is a build yo impress and may just be too expensive to offer in the market.
