BMW M4 GTS goes against the Porsche 911 R

The automotive world was not too thrilled with Porsche’s decision to make its new 911 GT3 and GT3 RS dual-clutch-only. These variants used to be manual-only so it was an unexpected move to suddenly change that. However, Porsche was focused on making them the most hard core performance cars in the market so they had to make the tough decision. In order to pacify those who were really dissatisfied, the Porsche 911 R came to life, which coincidentally goes against the BMW M4 GTS in terms of what it is trying to give the audience.

The Porsche 911 R is powered by a 4.0 liter flat-six engine matted to a six-speed manual. The engine itself is spectacular, even with only two-driven wheels at the back. No tricks and gimmick; just pure driving experience. But is this driving experience better than the one offered by the BMW M4 GTS? Let’s find out on this video:

The main difference perhaps is that the BMW M4 GTS uses a lot of technology while the 911 is back to basics style. Both cars are made in limited quantities though, so they aim to please the same crowd of people who are willing to pay a premium for a great driver’s car that’s not easy to get your hands on.

In this video, Auto Moto went to a track just outside of Paris to stack the two cars up. Both cars do 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds.

The Porsche 911 R is the better enthusiast’s car of the two, they say. The engine noise is just pure and honest, thanks to its naturally-aspirated engine. The BMW M4 GTS on the other hand is powered by a 3.0 liter twin-turbo I6 engine with water-injection. It is also very impressive and powerful but the noise is not as good as the 911.

In the end, Auto Moto suddenly brings out an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio and say that this is a better car than the two they tested. Practicality wise, it is a lot cheaper than the Porsche or BMW, and is not made in limited quantities so anyone can easily buy one. They say that it is also well-balanced, fun to drive, more comfortable, and even better looking. We didn’t see that one coming!
