Is This the M2 Convertible on These Pictures?

According to the Autoblog.nl, these are the images which show the upcoming BMW M2 Convertible. This comes as a real surprise, considering that Frank Isenberg, the M2 chief engineer, denied the rumors about this model back in February.

Isenberg said:

There will not be an M2 Convertible. We need to keep it as purist as we did with the 1 Series M Coupe. We’ve got such a nice M235i Convertible. And convertibles are not for racetracks, they’re for cruising. You can take that car on a racetrack as well, but you wouldn’t choose it for a track day. That’s the reason why we said no [to an M2 Convertible].

As there are already an M4 and M6 convertible, it’s not about having a convertible M car. Still, it’s estimated that it wouldn’t be received with enthusiasm and reach desired sales.
