Before this breakthrough, the Bavarian company was also the first one to start using laser headlight in the car industry. The president of Germany acknowledged this effort and nominated the team who had worked on this project for the German Future Prize.

The head of BMW Light Systems, Cristian Amann, explained how they worked to achieve this success:

Besides stringent project management, the willingness to implement and the constant strengthening of the customer-supplier relationship to form a lasting and resilient partnership played a significant role.

All of this wouldn’t have happened without the collaboration with Osram. The head of the Automotive Lamps in the company, Carsten Setzer, added:

We are very pleased about this nomination and the award that comes with being “among the best”. Both of our teams were early to recognize the potential of the innovation and were able to realize the shared vision within a short time.

The German Future Prize is a prestigious award for outstanding innovations on the national level. This year will be the 20th time the prize is given. Its purpose is to draw the attention of the public to the innovations and the potential of their implementation.
