Video: BMW F13 M6 vs E63 M6 on the Drag Strip

Turbocharging is the smartest choice among automakers recently because of the desire to create better fuel consumption and more torque. This is simply not possible with naturally aspirated engines that people used to be loyal to. BMW has successfully embraced the changing times and a good example of this is the BMW F13 M6 powered by 4.4 liter turbocharged engine. Was the change from the V10 naturally aspirated engine to this one worth it? Check out in this video where a BMW F13 M6 takes on a E63 M6 in a drag strip.

The M6 is another great example of modernization. When the current version was launched, it had big shoes to fill. The previous one was developed during BMW’s Formula 1 days where a S85 engine developing 507 HP and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque made sense. That car can rev up to 8,250 RPM and with a throttle response as sharp as they could possibly get. It’s hard to topple that.

However, the new F13 M6 took a different direction. It was gives a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine delivering 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque combined with the super fast 7-speed DCT gearbox. The video above just goes to show how much difference these two powerful engines have on a drag strip.
