The 5 Series also takes some big steps towards automated driving. It has extended functions for the optional Active Cruise Control (ACC) system and Steering and Lane keeping assistant. The car can accelerate on its own from rest to 210 km/h (130 mph), complete with braking and steering duties. Customers can also purchase the optional Remote Parking system that allows the BMW 5 Series Sedan to be parked even in the tightest spaces just by remotely controlling it using the car key.
The high-end model of the all-new BMW 5 Series has navigation displays, telephone and entertainment features, plus vehicle functions, on a high-resolution 10.25-inch screen. The system can be operated using the iDrive Controller, either by voice command, gestures, or touch.
The 5 Series Sedan line-up is powered by the newly developed, modular BMW EfficientDynamics family of engines. We also know that a BMW 5 Series Sedan with plug-in hybrid drive system will be launched in March 2017.
