The prototype is still hidden under heavy camouflage. However, we expect to see a very pronounced an dynamic look once the covers roll off. Expect to see a massive kidney grille highlighting the aggressive look of the front end, plus a pronounced nose.

On the rear, it will look much like the current model but it will look more premium and refined. A sportier look is achieved through a subtle roof spoiler. There will be more interior room as well.

The mechanics of this SUV is what makes it interesting. The spied G05 X5 model will be using a new chassis that was developed on top of the Cluster Architecture platform. It will have lots of aluminum and CFRP parts to save on weight and improving driving dynamics.

The upcoming X5 will be powered by a new generation B-family of engines from 2-liter diesel engines with two turbochargers on the EU-only sDrive25d and xDrive25d to the new B57 units for 30d and 40d models. The N63 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo petrol mill will be kept along for the xDrive50i model while the xDrive35i will transform into xDrive40i once the N55 3-liter straight six engine is replaced by the new B58 engine.

There will also be a plug-in hybrid, M Performance and dedicated M versions.
