BMW planning to launch an i3S performance model

According to a Autocar UK report, BMW is planning to launch a sportier and better performing i3 electric car in 2018. It will be built upon the current BMW i3 but loaded with more features and tech.

There is no official word yet of when the i3S will arrive, but this model will become the new i3 range-topper. It may make a debut together with the facelifted i3 range at the 2017 Frankfurt motor show. That will be held in September 2017.

The i3 range will look laregly the same, but there will be minor styling tweaks. Possible changes in the bumpers and headlights, plus a refresh of the interior is expected. New colors and trims may also be available.

BMW’s i3 facelifted range will have a minor upgrade to the 94Ah battery pack delivering more than 195 miles of range. The 2017 i3 will be be capable of more than 200 miles for the first time.
