Every new generation almost always means higher price because of the new standard features being added to the car. The newest G30-generation BMW 5 Series is going up a bit in price but the inclusions will make it worth it.
Since the BMW 528i now becoming the 530i, 535i becoming 540i and the 550i becoming the M550i, this newest generation will have a new naming convention. The 540i will cost around $600 more than its predecessor. All 5 Series xDrive models will have a $2,300 premium to the car, but that’s the same as what the previous F10 generation 5 Series costs.
New features that justify the higher price include Adaptive LED headlights as-standard, 16-way adjustable seats, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC as BMW speak). Most of these features were not even available as options for the predecessor.
