The new MINI electric car might be built in the Netherlands instead of the UK. According to the Automobil Produktion report, MINI is likely to move the production from the original plant in Oxford, England.
The reason for this decision is Brexit. The brand doesn’t want to risk the future tariffs the country will have once they leave the European Union. The VLDL Nedcar plant is already producing the MINI three-door, so they are the likely choice for taking over the manufacture of the EV.
BMW still hasn’t commented on this report. The company’s spokesman said that “a decision has not yet been made and depends on a number of factors.” The first series of electric MINI is scheduled to launch in 2019.
