The BMW M2 is one of the most coveted cars at the moment. It is a great deal for its price: 365 hp, 0-60 mph in just over 4 seconds, rear-wheel drive, and an amazing look. All things considered, this car is good value for money. But enthusiasts like to find used cars that match the performance of newer cars for less money. Frankly, this is a good exercise before you buy any new car. In this video, Car Throttle tries to find out if the M2’s value can easily be replicated on the second-hand market.
In the UK, the price of a brand new BMW M2 can buy a fleet of amazing cars. This includes one
E46 M3 from which a lot of inspiration for the M2 came from. You can get the same power, performance and driving dynamics with just a fraction of the M2’s cost. One Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI is included – a classic car that enthusiasts love because of its legendary turbocharged four-cylinder engine on an all-wheel drive system. The modern muScle car Vauxhall Monaro VXR is also included. Add a Honda S2000 – one of the best two-seat roadsters in history, plus a Mazda 3 to add practicality to this fleet. All of these can be bought for the price of a single M2.
In the US, the cost slightly differs. For what a BMW M2 would cost, one could buy a V8 six-speed manual and rear-drive C6 Corvette and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine six-speed manual, all-wheel drive Mazda 3. There’s still money left on the budget so we can add a Pontiac Firebird WS6, a Dodge Daytona Shelby Z, and a BMW 635 CSi.
Depending on the location and the ability to search for right used cars at the right pricing, the same amount you’ll have to pay for an M2 can get you an entire fleet of other cars.
