[Video] Review of an 800 hp 2JZ-swapped BMW E39 M5

The E39 M5 is one of the best M5 generations and fans love it because of its perfect balance of performance, comfort and fun. The highlight of this car is its 4.9 liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine. Change that engine to the iconic Toyota 2JZ engine, add a massive 75mm turbocharger with over 20psi of boost, add engine modifications and you get an 800 hp monster. Check out this review by The Smoking Tire.

The owner of the 800 hp BMW E39 M5 really wanted this car to stand out. He also added a custom fabricated wide-body on it with 335-section tires at all four corners. To boost the driving dynamics despite the insane power, a Getrag V160 six-speed manual gearbox was also installed.

Too much power doesn’t always do a car good, especially if it can no longer be handled properly. This is what The Smoking Tire wanted to test for in this review.

The combination of a Toyota engine and an iconic BMW car may sound strange to some but it ended up being a hilariously fin car to drive. That’s all that matters to the happy owner.
