The next generation BMW M5 hits the Ring for more testing. This spy video will definitely give us a good idea of what power the the new M will have.

Just by the sound of the engine, it is most likely carrying a DCT gearbox. This is supported by the smooth and perfect shifting. BMW M Boss Dr. Kay Segler already confirmed last June that the next generation 2012 BMW M5 will be powered by a V8 turbocharged engine. This power plant will be the same as what the BMW X5 M and X6M carries. It is believed to be a twin scroll twin turbo version of the N63, dubbed S63, with Cylinder-bank Comprehensive Manifold (CCM).

Power output has not been confirmed yet. Automobile journalists expect it to be at around 585 to 600 horsepower.

Sources also say that the 2012 BMW M5 has a unique dual clutch transmission which is based upon the 7-Speed transmission currently found in the M3. Rumor has it that an 8-speed unit will also be available and will be equipped with a Stop-Start control. The DCT will be controlled by the steering wheel mounted shifting paddles.

The world premiere of the F10 M5 will be held in March 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show.
