Marc Girard, former Head of BMW Interior Design and now Head of BMW Concept Design in Munich, knows the BMW 8 Series Concept that anyone else on the planet. Watch this walkthrough where he highlights the most important design cues of the new concept car, both interior and exterior.
BMW Concept Design really nailed the design language of the new 8 Series Concept. The design lines flow like water over the very beautiful and sophisticated Barcelona Gray Liquid exterior paint. The aggressiveness comes from a number of elements: the creases along the hood, large side air intakes, and bold arches that frame its 21-inch alloy wheels. With kidney grilles that are for the first time made of one grille surround, and then interestingly shaped taillights at the rear, it looks like a serious athlete.
For the interior, it features sport seats with a carbon-fiber shell, red-anodized paddle shifters, and aluminum accents. The iDrive controller is now made from Swarovski glass. Girard says that in 2018, we’ll see more models having this controller too.
Overall, the video, with Girard’s exprt explanation, makes the 8 Series Concept even more interesting.
