As Top Gear reports, the BMW 635 CSi will be hitting the track again soon. The car, sponsored by John Player & Sons, will race at this year’s Silverstone Classic.
This very model was an Australia Group C racer and was proclaimed one of the best BMW racing cars of its time. It uses a 3.5-liter twin-cam I6 engine revved to 8,400 rpm providing a strong, exciting sound. It also looks amazing. It was built from the original E46 635 CSi and painted in black and gold.
Jim Richards won 7/10 races with the 635 CSi in 1985. He won the Australian Touring Car Championship, Australian AMSCAR Series, and Australian Endurance Car Championship. We’ll see if the car still has what it takes to win races.
