It has already been reported that the next BMW Le Mans car is going to be the BMW M8 GTE. The inspiration and basis would be the BMW M8 road car but at this point, we have no clear idea on what it would look like since the 8 Series hasn’t even been revealed yet. BMW is currently working on the upcoming M8 GTE alongside the 8 Series and M8. They are expected to debut at around the same time. To fuel the excitement, here is a new teaser photo posted to the BMW Motorsport Facebook account.
“The 2017 FIA WEC is in full swing, but we are already gearing up for next season. Here’s an appetizer for our all-new BMW M8 GTE. More to come soon…†said BMW in the post. This means that the M8 GTE will not race this season but next season. That’s still a very ambitious goal, given that it is still un development as we speak. A lot of testing efforts have already begun just to ensure that it is ready when the time comes. It should be production-ready for the most part.
This photo actually just reiterates what we already know from the spy photos. It has a low and sleek silhouette, with aggressively flared rear haunches and the massive air breather from the concept. The hood is long and the deck is short, and that’s how a proper GT car should be! The M8 GTE should be lighter, sharper and better in all aspects.
