Sightings of BMW prototypes continue in Spain as the upcoming BMW Z4 Roadster is spotted cruising there. The new roadster will be unveiled at Pebble Beach on August 17th. Spain is a good location to continue testing of prototypes before the reveal since the country has high-temperature weather. This sighting was on the roads of the south of the Iberian peninsula and the car is equipped with an optional M Sport Package.
We see slightly larger tires paired with massive brake discs which may indicate additional power output. Instead of just having the generic bumper, the exhaust tips are located at both ends of the rear bumper under a lower cover that seems to act as a diffuser. The splitter is more evident in the M Sport version’s front bumper, but this detail only appeared on this prototype and not the previous ones.
The new BMW Z4 will be based on the CLAR platform that will underpin all the rear-wheel drive models of BMW. The same platform will be used from the new BMW 3 Series to the current 7 Series, and even by the future Toyota Supra. Materials such as aluminum, magnesium or carbon fiber will be present in its frame.
Two turbocharged 4-cylinder 2.0-liter versions sDrive20i and sDrive30i, and 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine will be available.
