BMW M235i Racing Cup to remain part of the VLN in 2018

Since 2014, BMW Motorsport has provided customers with a cost-effective entry level car and an interesting platform in the form of the BMW M235i Racing Cup class. This has become a real model for success and will feature in the next championship in 2018 – once again with the support of tyre partner Dunlop.

“Customer racing is a central pillar in the BMW Motorsport programme – and the BMW M235i Racing has proved to be the perfect entry-level model for motorsport since 2014,” said BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. “We are delighted to see the BMW M235i Racing Cup class on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife once again next season and to follow the battles for position that are always top-class and thrilling. The fact that up to 20 cars have regularly lined up on the starting grid in recent years confirms that we made the right decision to introduce this Cup class. The consistently high number of starters in the previous four years proves that the BMW M235i Racing has an optimum cost-benefit ratio. Now, we are looking forward to another year, which we will take on in collaboration with the drivers, teams and our long-standing tyre partner Dunlop.”

The BMW M235i Racing Cup class will compete at all VLN events, as well as at the 24 Hours Nürburgring. Only the VLN results will count towards the overall standings for the drivers, teams, gentleman drivers and juniors.

The best-placed drivers and teams will receive valuable material and cash prizes after each race, and at the end of the season. The BMW M235i Racing now also enjoys success in many other race series around the world.
