BMW to Replace M2 with M2 Competition in 2018

The “standard” BMW M2 will go out of production in June 2018, only to be replaced with the BMW M2 Competition. The new car will come out with a new engine – instead of the N55 3.0-liter TwinTurbo 6-cylinder, it will have a detuned S55 unit very similar to the one found in the M3/M4, but slightly less powerful – 405 HP.

Around 500 Nm of torque will ensure amazing performance. The new M2 will come in two new colors – Silver Hockenheim and Sunset Orange. The standard Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral Gray and Long Beach Blue Metallic will still be available.

We still don’t know how the aerodynamics of the car will change as BMW will probably use lightweight materials and sports suspension.
