BMW slated to unveil a series of electric concept vehicles in 2018

BMW has unveiled some details about their plans at this year’s annual Accounts Press Conference in Munich. They also talked about the longer term strategy until 2025 that involved a series of electric concept vehicles. Harald Krüger, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, talked about the future mobility of the brand by outlining four reasons why BMW will successfully reinvent itself once again.

“At the BMW Group, we have always managed to reinvent our business,” Krüger said. “The same applies to the financial year 2017: We achieved all of our targets. We delivered more than 2.4 million automobiles and over 164,000 motorcycles last year – a new all-time high. The BMW Group is the clear number one in the premium segment – and has been for the past 14 years.”

One of the main pillars for future success revolves around electro-mobility which is expected to get a new direction in 2018. To highlight some of the upcoming changes in its electric lineup, the BMW boss revealed that a series of electric concept vehicles will be introduced this year.

“Over the course of the year, we will present a number of pure-electric concept vehicles that will all go into series production, like: The first all-electric BMW – the iX3,” Krüger told the press. “Our new technology flagship, the BMW iNEXT, the captivating BMW i Vision Dynamics, which I just announced in Geneva as the BMW i4.”

One of those electric concepts to be unveiled this year is the iX3, followed by a design study of the iNEXT.

The BMW chief also highlighted his goal to have a total of half a million electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids on the roads by the end of 2019. 25 electrified models, 12 of them pure electric, by 2025.
