BMW just filed for new moniker trademarks and may well be on their way to expand its M Performance Automobiles lineup with a new vehicles series. AutoGuide reports that BMW has filed trademarks for M335, M650 and M750 and this information is from an official filing by BMW with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
These are very interesting names and allows us to speculate quite a bit about these cars. The M335 name implies that a 3 Series M Performance Automobile being prepared but the engine cannot be identified yet. It is not a secret that the G20 3 Series will include an M340i model, powered by a 3.0 liter six-cylinder gasoline engine. That means that the M335 may be powered by a diesel engine or another gasoline-powered model. It is confusing though because we’ve heard that an M340d model is also in the works.
The M650 model on the other hand can take its place above the 640i GT xDrive, which is the highest offering in the 6 series lineup. It can be a Gran Turismo with over 400 horsepower and a V8 TwinTurbo, for all we know.
The M750 is also interesting because it implies that there will be a 7 Series model in the future with a V8 engine and over 400 horsepower. BMW currently offers an M760i limousine with a V12 engine and 600 horsepower.
For now, do take this with a grain of salt knowing that not all patented named have seen its way into actual production vehicles.
