MINI Cooper SD will have a four-cylinder 2.0 liter diesel engine

It has been previously reported that the MINI Cooper SD model will have a new diesel-powered MINI as using a four-cylinder 1.6 liter turbodiesel engine made by BMW. However, recent reports place a different engine unit in this MINI.

But do not be dismayed. The engine that MINI chose for this upcoming vehicle is even more powerful. Aside from the power, it is highly fuel efficient and offers a higher torque. It is reported to just consume 4.5 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. This is the four-cylinder 2.0 liter diesel engine made by BMW, also used in the 1 Series fleet.

The high-end MINI Cooper SD diesel will be launched in Summer 2011.
