The collaboration between BMW and Toyota seems like a novelty to some. When in fact, fans of both brands have been mixing the two together for decades. And we know that Toyota also knows a thing or two about straight six engines. While BMW keeps its reputation when it comes to engine architecture which Toyota Models haven’t been too far, at least back in the ’80s and ’90s.

Now, wreaking havoc on unknowing, innocent bystanders, the 1JZ and 2JZ engines were unveiled. Turbochargers were so out of this world for its incredible potent and performance. That’s still a matter of fact as the video below proves. This is the car that has initially appeared with just a bit over 100 HP under its hood, only to become a true beast today.

This car was a BMW E30 316i at its core, an entry-level E30 back when these cars were on sale. Today, it’s on a 1JZ Toyota straight six including a huge turbo attached to it. And because other parts had to keep up and turbo grew in size, few changes were done to the engine. Since 1JZ is known to withstand big turbo pressure figures, its internals are stock.

However, its gearbox had to be changed to keep up with considerably bigger numbers, and E36 5-speed was just the right choice. Overall, the car has over 400 HP output and almost 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. Considering the lightweight of E30, you can imagine just how fast this car truly is. Well, you can actually check it out in the video below.
