In recent news, the ambitious electrification strategy of the BMW cars for this decade has already been drafted. With more than 7 million electrified vehicles, the BMW Group is already preparing it for the year 2030. All-electric versions will comprise two-thirds of them, while others will be a combination of fully electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
The MINI and BMW brands represent about 13.3 of all new authorizations across Europe. From this number, both have also recently featured plug-in hybrid and all-electric drive systems accordingly. This then equates to approximately 8 percent of the average share of all brands, which is 1.5-fold to be exact. BMW predicts that this figure will increase to 50 percent by 2030. By 2025, they expect it to increase to a third and to a quarter next year.
Amounting to 500,000 units sold so far, the electrified models of the BMW Group are globally advertised in 74 markets. The company is hoping that they would have a million electrified units sold by the end of 2021. Because of the nearing massive augmentation of electric mobility, the emissions from the BMW vehicles will be reduced. In 2030, these emissions will then be scaled down by about 40 percent for every kilometer driven.
The BMW series models will be manufactured on one single production line as well. In the future, this will include all of its models with both conventional and electrified drive systems. According to the sources, this will give more adaptability in product management and will also assist in modernizing the production.
Available with just the electric drive system, the next-generation BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series and BMW X1 are also to be expected. From roughly within every product model, there will also be a wide array of plug-in hybrids to be offered.
