In a world where a millisecond determines the champion, MOTUL BMW M8 GTE won with 4.383 seconds away from the Corvette. This marked the second win for BMW Team RLL in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Specifically, Bruno Spengler and Connor De Phillippi won at the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. Significantly, they snatched the victory in the six-hour race with their #25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE. Also, Jesse Krohn and John Edwards took the third place with their #24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE.
Receiving their 22nd victory, BMW Team RLL graced the podium for the third time in the IMSA race weekend. But for Spengler, it was his first IMSA win. As a result, Spengler and De Phillippi now take third in GTLM driver points. On the other hand, Edwards and Krohn took their fifth.
Relevantly, the second win for BMW Team RLL in the IMSA keeps them leading for the Michelin Endurance Cup. The endurance cup consists of four endurance races for this season. Basically, BMW places second in manufacturer points competing with Chevrolet.
Bruno Spengler expressed his overwhelming thoughts for winning his first IMSA race. He emphasized on how challenging the race he faced. But he also noted how much he enjoyed it. Additionally, he praised the greatness of the BMW MOTUL M8 GTE. And also complimented Connor’s driving. In his words, “Connor drove like a devilâ€. Lastly, he expressed his gratitude towards the mechanics and engineers who helped them.
Connor De Phillippi said that everyone involved in the race executed perfectly for the win. Further, he noted how even though they didn’t have the fastest car, the team effort gave them a boost. He also praised Bruno for racing excellently on an unknown track. Lastly, he expressed how proud he is with the whole team. And that they finally received the win they really deserved for a while now.
